HEY FORD WHY DID YOU MAKE THE GAS PEDAL ALL CURVED AND SHIT AND WITH NO RUBBER GRIPS ON IT, HUH? YOU DO REALIZE THAT PEOPLE MIGHT WANT TO DRIVE AFTER WALKING IN THE SNOW OR RAIN AND IT WOULD BE NICE IF THEIR FOOT DIDN'T KEEP SLIDING DOWN THE PEDAL WHILE DRIVING ALONG.

My foot slips off the clutch sometimes when my shoes are soaked as well
which is the worst

How the fuck are you supposed to heel-toe with pedals that far apart?
![]() 02/16/2015 at 22:33 |

Thats actually a terrible idea. Coming from such a performance oriented background, i'd expect something better.

They're actually pretty close together. The positioning is spot-on but that damn slippery pedal. I swear, it feels like they greased it at the factory.

Does anybody make an after market solution got this? Some sort of cover?

Well you could get some skateboard grip tape! Or get another pedal.

I felt that the brake was too high in the one I drove, and that you had to be tossing anchors before I could comfortably work both pedals.
Unlike my SVT Focus which is utterly perfect for some pedal-box dancing. I can easily rev-match and heel-toe slowing for a stoplight in heavy traffic in my car. That could be 9 years of familiarity, but if the pedals weren't where that are supposed to be it would not be that easy either.
That said, Ford really didn't think that one through at all. I thought for sure there was some regulation about having rubber/grippy material on the pedals already.

I'd imagine I could find something.

Several large rubber bands?

My car has metal pedals, too. They sure do look cool but how often do you just admire your pedals? I'll take rubber over metal any day, please.

You, sir, are a genius.

Why thank you good sir.

I actually think the pedals in my FoST are terribly set up for heal toe, the spacing side to side is fine, but the gas pedal is too far recessed toward the firewall compared to the brake to make healtoe comfortable unless you're REALLY compressing the brake

You shouldn't be driving such a high performance vehicle in slippery conditions. I mean, look what happened to Brian Silvestro!

there is a spacer that moves it closer to the driver, and alows side to side movement as well. I forget who makes it but there are two options

Send it to the scrap yard, it is beyond saving.

Before drilling on aftermarket pedals to my Miata (If you've ever driven a miata with a wet shoe and no rubber cover on the clutch you know what's up) I considered using skate board grip tape. You see that on a lot of track/race cars

i thought everyone drove with their heel planted to the ground...

Well I Guess I will have to take it off your hands. It's for your own safety.

I'll let you know how it works out on my Fiesta ST

The clutch and brake pedals in my Mini have this exact same problem.

The Normal Focus Accel Pedal is a direct fitment if you have to get rid of the slippy one. Option 2 is that there is a torx bolt through from the back that holds the fancy plate on. If you pull it the shiny plate can come off. Or just stick some skateboard grip tape to it. Also, if there isn't a bolt through it, then the plate is the updated clip on style and should come off easily leaving you with the base version of the pedal. I am not sure if they signed off on that design yet or not.
The reason it is curved is due to the elimination of the pivoting plate design for complexity, weight and cost issues. the pedal has to feel correct in all the usual foot positions when driving. And yes I know way to much about accel and brake pedal. There is a reason I won't get into. I can send your complaint to the component manufacturer if you would like?

this happens all the time its annoying as fuck i need to get better pads. When backing up and easing the clutch in and out my foot slips further and further up until it is wedged in the pedal box and i have to put it in neutral let it out and readjust my foot. It is infuriating

Better to slip off gas than to slip off brake.

how does your foot slide down the gas pedal? isn't your heel on the floor?

I know you posted this a while ago, and I had forgotten about it, but yes! I would love it if you were to send a complaint. I’m not one to do the whole “may I speak to your manager” thing, but this is something that is really annoying. Seriously, all it would take is a bit of rubber like on the other pedals along the two raised ridges of the pedal.

All the Ford ones are like this or worse. The mustang is 3 short bars in the middle. 90% is Stainless. I know it is an asthetics thing and not a safety consideration as the appication area is rubber or plastic and meets NHTSA requirements.
I will mention it to the Supplier Eng. Dept. Manager next time I see him.
